Overview

Acne can be painful and embarrassing. Treatments and medications can be costly and some of the ingredients can dry out the skin, making things worse. Natural acne treatment and skin care is easily available, most of it can be found right in your refrigerator or pantry. When natural treatments are used properly, they can be just as effective as store bought remedies.

Benefits of Natural Acne Treatments

As explained on Acne Teen, there are many benefits to treating acne using natural methods. It is generally cheaper to use natural treatments. Using home remedies, an acne sufferer will more than likely only spend about $20 a month as opposed to as much as $60 a month with store products. There are fewer side effects with natural treatments. Many store bought products contain harsh acne fighting ingredients, such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. These are known to dry out the skin.

Honey Skin Care

Experts at the World of Honey state that honey has natural antibacterial ingredients in it, making it ideal in the fight against acne. It also has natural inflammatory qualities. Bees add an enzyme to honey that generates hydrogen peroxide, which kills bacteria. To use honey, apply directly to the face or mix with cinnamon. Is it often worn as a mask for 15 minutes and then rinsed off.

Diet

Natural Acne Remedy suggests modifying your diet in order to alleviate acne. Drink six glasses of water a day. Eat 1 tbsp. of fresh seeds, such as pumpkin, sunflower or sesame. Have a wide assortment of whole grains, beans and lentils, which are high in fiber. Try alternates to dairy products, such as soy and tofu. Avoid alcohol and only have 1 or 2 cups of coffee or tea a day. Red meats should be eaten in moderation, no more than three times a week.

Supplements

Supplements can help acne because, as described on Acne Teen, they attack acne from the inside out. Fish oil is recommended because it is a skin hydrator and helps reduce swelling and redness. Zinc is another natural supplement, but a doctor should be consulted. It is also recommended that this regimen be followed on a consistent basis. Vitamin A also helps cure acne when taken in doses of 300,000 to 500,000 IU a day. However, a doctor should approve this regimen because excessive amounts of Vitamin A can lead to unpleasant side effects, such as headaches and nausea.

Egg

The website, Body Building for You says that eggs contain Vitamins B2, B3 and Zinc. These ingredients can help alleviate acne. Stress can cause acne and Vitamin B2 is a natural stress reducer. Vitamin B3 helps circulation, which helps skin look healthy. Zinc boosts the immune system. Eggs can be used in a mask when the egg white is applied to the face and allowed to dry. Or they can be eaten to ingest the vitamins.
