How to Make Razor Blades Stay Sharp
Shaving with a dull razor can cause redness, irritation and even razor burn. Disposable razor blades can become dull after only a few uses. Prolong the life of your disposable razor blades--and keep them sharper longer--simply by keeping them dry. When you leave your disposable razor in the shower after use, the steam from the shower and water left on the blades can cause rusting and oxidation that eventually lead to dull blades.
Fill a disposable cup with approximately ½ inch of isopropyl alcohol. Set the cup aside until you are through shaving.
Rinse the razor with warm water after use, removing any stray hairs. Dip your razor in the isopropyl alcohol immediately after use.
Allow the razor to sit in the alcohol while you complete your shower. The isopropyl alcohol will help drive water out of the razor, increasing evaporation.
Remove the razor from the isopropyl alcohol. Blot the razor dry with an absorbent bath towel.
Discard the cup of isopropyl alcohol. Place the protective cap on the razor. Store the razor in a drawer or cabinet.
Hone your razor once a week. Run the razor up and down over the leg of a pair of jeans. Running the razor up and down the jeans 10 to 20 times will help sharpen the blade.
