Overview

At one point or another we have all had a blackhead. Blackheads, which look like little black dots, consist of dirt, oil and dead skin cells trapped in pores. They can be caused by hormones, genetics or poor facial cleansing. Blackheads are inconvenient but fortunately they are very treatable The next time one pops up on your face, there is an easy routine that will help you stop them in their dirty little tracks.

Step 1

Cleanse your face thoroughly with a facial cleanser. Use a cleanser that contains salicylic acid as this will help remove dead skin cells.

Step 2

Heat a large pot of water to a rolling boil and remove from heat. Place your face directly over the pot. Cover your head with a towel to keep the steam from escaping.

Step 3

Wrap your fingers with tissue and apply gentle pressure on either side of the blackhead. Do not squeeze. If the blackhead is close enough to the surface, light pressure should squeeze it out.

Step 4

Rinse your face with warm water to remove any remaining bacteria.

Step 5

Warm 1 cup of mineral water in the microwave and add 4 tsp. baking soda to make a paste. Cover your face with the mixture and leave on for 10 minutes allowing the mixture to cool on your face. This mask will deep clean your pores and remove layers of dead skin.

Step 6

Moisturize thoroughly to rehydrate your skin.
