Overview

Age spots, liver spots and sun spots are terms that are all used to describe one thing: dark patches on the skin caused by overexposure to the sun. Although they mostly occur in adults over age 40, age spots can also occur in younger people too. They are not harmful, but they can be aesthetically unpleasing as they normally occur on the face, arms and chest. Some people opt for cosmetic procedures, but before doing that, you can try removing them at home with all-natural skin-bleaching agents such as lemon and papaya.

Step 1

Buy lemons or papaya at the store and cut them up into small slices or chunks. Store them in a container in the refrigerator for easy access.

Step 2

Take a slice of lemon or a chunk of papaya and rub it over the discolored area twice a day, allowing the skin to absorb the juice. The glycolic acid in these fruits helps slough away layers of dead skin to reveal new skin underneath that is not discolored.

Step 3

Allow the juice to sit on the skin for at least 10 minutes and rinse off with cold water.

Step 4

Repeat this process every day until desired results are achieved. It may take up to two months for your age spots to lighten, and they may not disappear entirely.
