Overview

Lip lines and wrinkles are a natural part of the aging process, and ridding yourself of them can be done a number of ways, starting at home. You can find remedies at a drugstore to combat these deep set lines surrounding your mouth. In addition to skin treatments, you can make some lifestyle changes to help reduce the wrinkles from within. Once they have faded, plumped and gone you will not only look younger, but feel younger, too.

Step 1

Apply a nightly alpha hydroxy cream to your skin surrounding your mouth, making sure not to ingest any of the cream. Using a circular motion, gently work the cream into your skin until it is completely absorbed. The added massaging stimulation will also benefit your skin by increasing circulation and promoting skin's collagen production.

Step 2

Eat foods rich in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids. These foods will help keep your skin smooth, diminishing wrinkles and deeper set lines on your lips. Blueberries and flaxseed oil are good examples of foods to add to your daily diet.

Step 3

Exfoliate your face daily. Removing dead skin cells from the skin will expose newer skin and slough off the deeper lines with repeated use. Opt for a gentle over-the-counter exfoliant or microdermabrasion cloths. You can buy these in drugstores.

Step 4

Stop smoking and cut back alcohol consumption. Smoking and excessive alcohol intake dry out skin, promoting premature aging and wrinkles. Once you have removed these toxins from your body, your skin will begin to heal itself and your lip lines will start fading as collagen production returns to normal.

Step 5

Drink at least eight glasses of water each day. The majority of your skin's moisture comes from the water you take into your body. Keeping hydrated will keep skin soft and plump it out, reducing lip lines and wrinkles.

Step 6

Consult your physician or plastic surgeon. There are several noninvasive options to help remove and reduce lip lines. Botox injections or collagen injections plump the skin around the mouth. They are safe and effective when performed by a certified professional.

Step 7

Brush and floss your teeth daily. Avoiding tooth decay will help reduce and diminish wrinkles. Healthy teeth are the support system to your face, especially your mouth. When teeth start to decay and chip, then that support is lost and skin wrinkling and sagging occur. See your dentist regularly to maintain your oral health.
