How to Boost Collagen Production
As you age, collagen production in your body naturally slows down. This makes it easier for wrinkles to appear and it makes your skin look older and dryer. To keep your skin looking its best, it's important to boost collage production by following a series of lifestyle and dietary changes. It's also important that you stay out of the sun, as this will damage the look and feel of your skin and make all the other steps less effective.
Take a multivitamin. Antioxidants such as vitamin A and E are essential to collagen production, as is vitamin C. Simply eating fruits and vegetables may not be enough, especially if you smoke or drink, which robs your body of nutrients. Make sure you take a multivitamin that contains at least 100 percent of the daily doses needed for those vitamins. Dark green vegetables are good sources of these vitamins as well.

Soy supplements, sold at health food stores and vitamin shops, can also be a good addition to your daily diet.
Eat more foods rich in lycopenes, which also increase collagen production. Lycopenes are found in red, yellow and orange foods such as tomatoes, peppers, beets, carrots and sweet potatoes.
Add supplements of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids to your diet. Omega acids can be found in certain fatty fishes such as salmon, as well as in Brazil nuts and flaxseed. Supplements might be easier if you want to keep your diet low-fat.
Talk to your doctor about laser light therapy and laser skin resurfacing. These can increase the production of collagen and do not cause burning or require down time. They also get rid of dark spots, fine lines and acne in the process.
Buy creams and serums that contain retinoid, which both preserves and increases collagen in the skin. Creams are only effective when applied continuously, though, so you will have to be consistent with treatment.
