Candida albicans is a type of parasitic yeast just like fungus that usually inhabits in your intestines, genital tract, mouth, esophagus, throat and skin. The fungus is usually found in your skin, mucous membrane of your mouth etc.

Candida is a useful yeast until its growth remains controlled. It performs normal body function and helps body organs in many ways. Due to some reason, when there is an abnormal increase in the amount of candida, it begins to secrete a large volume of toxins within your body which makes your immune system weak. In other words, when candida increases its growth, it cause infection in your body. The infection caused by candida is call Candidiasis. Both males and females can develop candidiasis at any age but females are more prone to develop acne caused by candida.

Every living organism requires some favorable condition for its growth. Candida grows faster in warm, moist areas. Normally candida does not harm your body but when your immune system gets weak, it attacks your body and infect anywhere where its colonies exist. If your immune system is strong enough to defend candida, there is no any threat that candida can cause you any harm like skin infection, acne, inflammation of sebaceous glands. Taking certain broad spectrum antibiotics may pose you to repeated candida infection. As the antibiotics kills the bacteria that defend and control the growth of fungus candida and may other species of fungi.

Risk factors of Developing Candida Acne:

  • Frequent and long-term use of antibiotics, such as broad spectrum and tetracycline
  • Frequent use of broad-spectrum antibiotics for repeated infections such as in ears, bladder, vagina, or throat
  • Infection in Digestive system that lead to weak immune system
  • Poor diet that does not contain vitamins and minerals
  • Junk and sugary foods
  • Painkillers and birth control pills that directly influence on hormonal system
  • Frequent use of cortisone type drugs and medications
  • Alcohol, caffeine, nicotine and antidepressants
  • Diabetes as candida feeds on sugar in blood
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
  • Vaccinations and immunizations for prevention of diseases and disorders.

Treatment and Prevention:
There are hundreds of type of drugs available in the market for treating fungus infection. There are certain drugs that are specially formulated for treating candidiasis and candida acne. Therefore, in early stages of infection, it can be treated easily by using certain anti-fungus medications. Eat healthy foods, drink plenty of water and have regular bath.

Conclusion:
Candida acne is a common skin disorder affecting both males and females at any age. Candida acne usually develops in people having weak immune system that is not able to defend excess growth of fungus candida. Frequent use of broad spectrum antibiotics and tetracycline may aggravate the risk of developing candida acne.
