Blackhead Remover Instructions
Blackheads are clogged open pores. They form when the sebaceous glands beneath the skin produce excess amounts of the oil sebum. Normally, this oil will flow out of the hair follicles and onto the skin, but when excess amounts are produced, it clogs the pores, along with the dirt and skin cells. If the pore remains open while blocked, its oily mixture will oxidize with the air and turn blackish in color, giving them their name, notes Medical News Today. Little is known about the true causes of blackheads or acne in general, although medical evidence suggests that it is largely a result of hormonal imbalances.
Place a blackhead removal lancet tool--available at most drugstores--in a glass of rubbing alcohol to sterilize. Leave for several minutes. This is important as an unsterilized tool could cause infection or worsen the acne condition.
Cleanse your face with a wipe that has salicylic acid as an ingredient. Salicylic acid is included in most topical solutions for acne. The wipe will help remove surface dirt and debris.
Steam your face. Make sure--when draping the towel over your head and placing your face over the steam--that the bowl is on a sturdy supporting surface, and the towel completely encloses the steam for maximum effect. Steam for five to 10 minutes.
Remove the lancet tool from the rubbing alcohol. Dry it. Target a blackhead. Rest the loop ending around the pore so that the blackhead is centered in the middle. Begin to push down. The tool is designed to push at the blackhead from the sides and squeeze out the oil and dirt under pressure. Repeat.
Cleanse face with an over-the-counter product containing benzoyl peroxide. This will deep clean inside the pores. Rinse your face. Dab it dry. Moisturize your skin.
