How to Get Rid of Nasty Pimples That Won't Pop

Overview

Pimples can be unsightly and annoying. They also have an uncanny habit of showing up on your face at the worst time. Over-the-counter medication is readily available to dry up pimples and acne pustules, but you can save money by making your own home remedy for pimples. An old wives tale recommends dabbing ice on the pimple to help the redness and swelling go down.

Step 1

Refrain from picking, popping or scratching the pimple. Picking an enlarged pimple can be incredibly tempting, but you should leave it alone. Picking could produce scarring and spread bacteria around the face, thus creating more pimples. If you must touch your face, make sure your hands are clean.

Step 2

Apply tea tree oil to the pimple. Tea tree oil has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties and is used to dry out pimples. You can use the oil undiluted directly on the skin and apply several times per day until the pimple disappears.

Step 3

Mix one part apple cider vinegar to three parts water. Apply the apple cider vinegar mixture to a cotton ball and swipe the vinegar across the pimple. Allow the vinegar to soak into the skin for 10 minutes and then rinse. Alternatively, you can leave the vinegar to soak into the skin overnight.

Step 4

Dab a small amount of toothpaste on the pimple and leave it to dry overnight. This method can dry out the skin, so do not use it often.
