Tips on How to Get Rid of Pimples on the Face
The cause for pimples on the face can be caused by stress, diet and hormonal imbalance. The pores of your skin collapse onto themselves and block oil, or sebum, from escaping, thus creating a pimple. If you scratch a pimple or try to pop it and your hands are dirty, you may cause your skin to become infected and your pimple may grow, due to inflammation. It is best to remove pimples with care and hygiene to prevent this from happening. Always consult your dermatologist if you are under any type of medical treatment or have very sensitive skin.
Use a headband to keep any hair away from your face while you are performing your facial.
Wash your face and neck with warm water using antibacterial soap to remove any bacteria present from the environment.
Pat your face dry with a soft towel and place your face over a medium-sized pot with boiling water, bending over it and covering your head with a large towel to create a tent that will keep in the rising steam. This will help open your pores to remove any impurities and pus present in your pimples.
Use your soft towel to pat dry your face again and take a pinch of epsom salt and place it on the palm of your hands. Add a few drops of water only to moisten the salt; use the mixture to perform a gentle exfoliation on your skin. Use gentle circular motions on your cheeks, chin and forehead, and up-and-down movements for your neck and nose. Avoid the skin closest to your eyes.
Rinse your face with warm water and pat dry.
Apply a thin layer of a mud mask to your face and neck. This will help close your pores after the steam and exfoliation as well as nourish your skin with the minerals from the mud, according to herbalist Rosemary Gladstar in her book "Family Herbal." Mud masks can be purchased at your local health food store.
Remove the mud mask by rinsing your skin with warm water, once the mask has dried and apply a non-greasy moisturizing cream to keep your skin hydrated and smooth.
