How to Get Rid of Pimples the Fastest
Unfortunately, there's no magic cure that gets rid of pimples immediately, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. A solid acne treatment plan takes four to eight weeks to clear skin, and then you must continue the treatment indefinitely to maintain your results. Products that promise instant pimple treatment are misleading. At best, they can eliminate some of the redness and swelling associated with pimples, but only on a temporary basis. The best way to get rid of pimples is to develop and maintain a consistent skin care regimen.
Wash your face each morning when you wake up and each night before bed. Wash your face after working out or performing activities that leave you dirty or sweaty. Use lukewarm water and an over-the-counter mild face wash or the face wash prescribed by your dermatologist.
Apply an over-the-counter benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid cream to your pimples once a day, after your morning wash. Allow your skin to adjust to your new routine for one to two weeks, then add a second treatment before bed if you're still experiencing breakouts. Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid help dry up oil, reduce inflammation and help skin slough away its top layer more effectively.
Apply a light, oil-free moisturizer to your face once the benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid cream absorbs. Keep the moisturizer to a light coat. It helps hydrate your skin so it doesn't produce excess oils to combat dryness.
Repeat your new skin care regimen each day for four to eight weeks. Resist the urge to pick at or pop pimples in the mean time because it could make them worse.
Talk to a doctor or dermatologist if your new skin care regimen doesn't help clear up your pimples after two months. He may prescribe prescription-strength topical creams, oral antibiotics, steroids or laser light treatments to remove your pimples.
