How to Get Rid of Pimples & Acne
Overview
Pimples and acne can affect people of all ages, but most often occur during periods when the body is experiencing hormonal surging. This can happen during pregnancy, menstruation or puberty. Although acne and pimples are embarrassing and can be painful, most acne can be reduced and eliminated by using a few acne treatment methods. These methods cleanse the skin properly, remove pore-blocking dead skin cells, topically treat active breakouts and dry up pimples.
Step 1
Clean the skin using a soap formulated for sensitive skin. Wet your hands and your face well, and lather your hands using a sensitive skin soap. Spread the lather onto your face, and use your fingers to distribute the lather to all of the areas affected by acne. Rinse off the lather with water, and repeat twice per day.
Step 2
Apply a mildly abrasive facial scrub. In a small bowl, combine 2 tbsp. of honey, 1 tbsp. of ground raw oats, and 1 tbsp. of lemon juice. Mix the substances well, and spread it onto moistened skin. Use your fingertips to massage the scrub around your skin in small, circular movements. After one to twp minutes, rinse off the scrub using warm water. Repeat once a week.
Step 3
Treat the acne and pimples with a low concentration of benzoyl peroxide. Spread a pea-sized amount of 2.5 percent benzoyl peroxide cream onto your finger and dab it evenly around your skin. Use your fingertips to smooth the benzoyl peroxide into the skin until it has been absorbed, avoiding rubbing it in too vigorously. Repeat twice a day.
Step 4
Apply a weekly facial mask. Purchase French green clay from a health-food store or online merchant. Spread 1 to 2 tsp. of clay onto your face, and allow it to dry completely, which takes about five minutes. Rinse off the mask with warm water, and repeat once per week.
