How to Get Rid of Chest Pimples
Chest pimples can be embarrassing, especially when you want to wear low-cut styles or are headed to the beach. Unfortunately, it is a problem for many teens, according to KidsHealth.org. Overactive oil glands are to blame for a sprinkling of pimples on the chest and back. If you are suffering from chest pimples, you can get rid of them by engaging in a hygiene routine that keeps your pores clear so that pimples have time to heal and new acne stops forming altogether.
Wash your chest daily in the shower with an acne wash that contains at least 2 percent salicylic acid. This will help dry out the oil in your pores and treat the chest pimples that you already have. Shower at least daily to remove oil, dirt and sweat from your body. Showering more may actually make your chest pimples worse, by drying out your skin too much and causing it to produce even more oil.
Dry your body with a clean towel each day after showering. Dirty towels can spread bacteria onto your chest and make the pimples worse. Apply a topical ointment of benzoyl peroxide to the affected area and allow it to dry. Do not get dressed while the ointment is wet, as benzoyl peroxide can bleach clothing.
Avoid wearing tight shirts while your chest pimples are healing. Tight, non-breathable clothing can rub the acne, transfer bacteria and generally make the problem worse. Choose fabrics like linen and cotton to keep the area breathable and clean once you've showered and applied ointment.
Refrain from popping chest pimples. Because of the sensitive skin on your chest, the area is prone to scarring and making the problem worse, says ChestAcne.org. If you have an especially large pimple that you are tempted to pick or pop, try applying a cold compress to it to take the swelling down, and cover it with clothing so that it has time to heal.
Use a small amount of cover-up makeup in order to hide chest pimples. If you have a special event coming up and don't have time to wait for acne medication to get rid of chest pimples, apply a small amount of concealer, and then set it with translucent powder. Make sure that you wash it off as soon as possible, as it could clog pores and make acne worse if left on too long.
