How to Get Rid of Acne on Your Buttocks
If you are prone to acne breakouts on the face, you are at an increased risk of developing pimples on other areas of the body, including the buttocks. Since the pores are larger on the buttocks than on the face, lesions are more likely to be larger and more painful. It is important to avoid popping these acne cysts to prevent scarring. If you are unable to clear up the body acne on your own, make an appointment with a dermatologist to discuss more aggressive treatment options.
Wear lightweight cotton clothing. If you are prone to acne breakouts on the buttocks, wear cotton underpants and lightweight bottoms.
Shower after perspiring. Plan to take a shower after you have worked out or have been exposed to high temperatures. Cleansing the skin of sweat can help prevent breakouts of body acne since the oils can clog the pores.
Exfoliate the skin. Prepare the skin on the buttocks for treatment by sloughing off dead skin cells. Use a gentle exfoliating sponge in the shower for several minutes and concentrate on areas that you have the body acne.
Choose an acne treatment body cleanser. Use a brand that contains either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. These ingredients can clear up the acne cysts and prevent future breakouts. Some brand examples are Murad Acne Body Wash and Neutogena Acne Stress Control Body Wash. Lather and leave on the skin for two to five minutes before rinsing. Avoid using the body wash on the face unless the manufacturer's directions state that it is safe to use on the facial area.
Dry off the body with a clean and dry towel. If the acne treatment dries out the skin on the body, you can apply a lightweight, oil-free body lotion.
