How to Get Good Skin
Good skin is a combination of good genes, a healthy diet and an ongoing care regime. While there's nothing you can do about your genetic traits, you can greatly affect the other areas and change the way your skin feels and looks. To keep your skin looking clear and young, you need to eat right, protect your skin from the sun and use moisturizer regularly.
Consult a dermatologist if you have skin problems such as acne, eczema and rashes. You might require antibiotics or other medications to help clear the problem. This is essential before you try any home moisturizers or treatments.
Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables. They are high in vitamins A and E. These are important vitamins to help fight free radicals, which destroy elastin and accelerate the formation of wrinkles.
Eat healthy fats. Non-saturated, vegetable fats can hydrate your skin and help it remain soft and pliable. Avocado, flaxseed oil and olive oil are all good sources. Almonds are also high in healthy fats, and they also provide you with vitamin E.
Eat foods high in vitamin C. This includes citrus fruits, as well as berries, broccoli and bell peppers. Vitamin C accelerates the production of collagen, essential to keeping skin tight and to reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles.
Protect yourself from the sun. Wear sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat to protect your face. If you're going to the beach or will be spending a lot of time outside, apply sunscreen to your body as well and stay out of the sun during the strongest hours, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Exfoliate your skin regularly. While in the shower, scrub using a scrubbing sponge or loofah and a creamy body scrub. Use circular motions and increase or soften the pressure depending on what part of the body you're exfoliating. Rinse well and apply moisturizer as soon as you step out of the shower.
