How to Get Rid of the Black Dots on My Nose

How to Get Rid of the Black Dots on My Nose

Overview

The black dots on your nose are called blackheads. They are a result of an overproduction of the skin's natural oil, called sebum. Sebum combines with dead skin cells and cosmetics to form small plugs that clog the pores. When the clog is exposed to air, it oxidizes, giving the blackhead its characteristic dark color. Blackheads are common on the forehead, nose and chin. Fortunately, it is easy and inexpensive to get rid of blackheads at home by yourself using only cleanser, boiling water and a special tool available in pharmacies.

Step 1

Wash your face with a gentle facial soap to remove makeup and dirt. You can use a soft washcloth to gently exfoliate if you wish.

Step 2

Boil a pot of water on the stove. Add a few drops of tea tree oil if you wish. Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial used in acne treatment products.

Step 3

Cover your head with a towel, lean over the pot of water and steam your face for 10 minutes.

Step 4

Pat your skin dry.

Step 5

Press the blackheads from your skin gently with the blackhead removal tool. They should be soft and easy to remove.

Step 6

Moisten a cotton ball with salicylic acid toner and wipe it over your face to remove any excess oil from your pores and help prevent new blackheads from forming.
