How to Find Out What Skin Type You Have for Proper Acne Treatment
Overview
Find out what skin-type you have so you can select the proper treatment for your type. According to "Organic Body Care Recipes," most people have skin that is either balanced or normal, oily, dry or combination. Each type requires a specific type of treatment for treating acne and other problems and maintaining a healthy radiant complexion. Try this test to determine what kind of care your skin needs.
Step 1
Wash your face according to your current regimen. Rinse your skin thoroughly, but don't apply any oils or moisturizer.
Step 2
Rest for at least two hours. Do not apply any make-up, moisturizer or other substances to your skin during this time.
Step 3
With gentle but firm pressure, apply the tissue to your entire face.
Step 4
Remove the tissue and observe whether it is greasy everywhere--you have oily skin, partially greasy--you have combination skin, or if it has no grease.
Step 5
If the tissue comes away with no grease, wash your face with soap and water. Observe how it feels afterwards. A tight uncomfortable feeling indicates dry skin. If it feels smooth, fresh and supple you have balanced, or normal skin.
