How to Make Acne Facials at Home
Combat acne with a homemade acne facial. Homemade facials use natural ingredients that may already be in your kitchen. Oatmeal is a key ingredient in an acne facial and will cost a lot less than a store bought oil mask or other acne treatments. You can combine oatmeal with other ingredients or use it as the primary ingredient. These masks will soak up and help remove excess oils. Some masks are exfoliating and antibacterial. They can even soothe and smooth skin. Use a facial acne mask once a week.
Heat a 3/4 cup of oatmeal and 1/2 cup of water in a pot on the stovetop.
Take the oatmeal off the stove once it is cooked and allow it to cool.
Mix in 1/4 cup of honey to your oatmeal.
Put the mask on your skin being careful to avoid the eye area.
Soak two tea bags in cold water. Wring out excess water and place the tea bags on your eyes. Cold tea bags will reduce skin irritation from the mask to your eyes. Leave the mask and the tea bags on for 10 to 20 minutes, as recommended by AcneAssasin.com. Remove with warm water.
Oatmeal and Yogurt Facial
Set 3/4 cup of water in a pot on the stove and bring it to a boil.
Put the water in a heatproof bowl and stir in 2 tsp. of dried basil. Allow the water to cool until it is lukewarm.
Mix in 3/4 cup of oatmeal, 1 tbsp. of plain yogurt, and 2 tbsp. of honey. Oatmeal will exfoliate your skin and suck up oil. Use basil because of its anti-inflammatory properties. Mix in honey to kill bacteria. Yogurt will smooth your skin because of the lactic acid it contains. Stir the ingredients until they form a thick paste. Place the mixture into the fridge for 20 minutes.
Use your fingertips to put the facial on your skin. Use a generous amount everywhere on your face except near your eyes. Leave the mask on for 15 minutes.
Use damp paper towels to wash off the mask. Splash some warm water on your face to remove any remaining bits of the mask. Pat your skin dry with a towel, as recommended by HealthMad.com.
