How to Clear Acne Blemishes
Acne is a common skin condition that results from blocked pores. These pores can develop into inflamed pustules, which can become blemishes when they rupture. It is important for acne blemishes to heal as quickly as possible to prevent scarring. A good skin maintenance program is essential to getting rid of blemishes. A variety of medications are also available to help the blemishes heal.
Avoid touching your acne blemishes more than needed. It is especially important that you not pick at your blemishes as this will increase healing time. Ensure that your hands are clean when you wash your face or apply medication. This will keep you from introducing oil or bacteria into your blemishes.
Use caution in washing your acne. Excessive washing can dry your skin unnecessarily and further irritate your blemishes. Limit yourself to two washings per day and ensure that you use a mild soap. Rub your skin gently with a soft washcloth instead of scrubbing it and pat your skin dry with a clean towel.
Try lemon juice. Dilute the juice of one lemon with a cup of water. Soak a soft washcloth in the lemon juice solution and apply it to your face for a few minutes each day. Some cases of acne are characterized by dark blemishes which you can lighten with mild acids, such as lemon juice.
Apply acne medication that contains benzoyl peroxide. The type of bacteria that makes acne worse prefers low levels of oxygen. Benzoyl peroxide helps eradicate these bacteria by releasing oxygen into your pores.
Clear your pores with other types of medication. Salicylic acid is a common ingredient in acne medication that causes the follicles to shed fewer cells, which can also block your pores. Medications with resorcinol and sulfur help get rid of blackheads and whiteheads.
