How to Use Oatmeal to Remove Blackheads
Overview
Blackheads occur when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. Keeping the skin clean helps keep follicles clear and free of blackheads. In addition to washing your face regularly, you can use an oatmeal facial to keep your pores clear. An oatmeal facial absorbs oil and leaves skin smooth, according to Health 911.
Step 1
Measure 1/2 cup of oatmeal. You can use almost any kind of flake oatmeal, though instant oatmeal, which has smaller flakes, makes a smoother paste. You may also used cooled, cooked oatmeal if you prefer.
Step 2
Combine the oatmeal and enough water to make a paste. Start with 2 tbsp. of water and add more water, 1 tbsp. at a time until you have a thick paste.
Step 3
Smear the paste onto your face. Avoid the area around your eyes. If you get the paste in your eyes, it could be irritating.
Step 4
Relax and leave the oatmeal mask on your face for 20 minutes. The oatmeal may become a little dry. On a humid day it will remain fairly moist. Either way is fine.
Step 5
Rinse the oatmeal mask from your face with warm water. Pat dry with a towel.
