How to Treat Acne Around a Scar
Acne is a problem generally associated with adolescence, but it does occur in all stages of life. While acne can be embarrassing for many people, the problem is only exacerbated when pimples form around existing scars. Luckily, there are some treatments that can help to get rid of acne while reducing the visibility of scars on the surface of the skin, according to Marcel Lavabre, author of "Aromatherapy Workbook," and Helen McGuinness, author of "Aromatherapy: Therapy Basics."
Mix ½ tsp. bergamot essential oil, ½ tsp. Texas cedarwood essential oil, ½ tsp. peppermint essential oil, ½ tsp. Roman chamomile essential oil, ¼ tsp. carrot seed essential oil, ¼ tsp. rose essential oil and ½ cup jojoba oil in a container with a firm-fitting top.
Cover the container and shake it gently for 10 to 15 seconds to combine the ingredients.
Pour a small amount of the mixture onto your fingertips and gently massage it onto the area of skin being treated. Leave the oil on your skin for 20 minutes after applying it.
Rinse your skin with lukewarm water and wash with a gentle soap. Pat your skin dry and apply a light moisturizer.
Use this treatment twice per day in the morning and evening. Stop using the essential oil make sure that causes redness, itching or sensitivity.
Keep unused portions of the essential oil mixture in a cool, dark and dry place for up to 90 days. Discard the essential oil mixture after 90 days has passed.
