Instant Blackhead Removal
Pores become blocked when the sebaceous glands, under the hair follicles in the skin, produce excess amounts of sebum oil. Sebum then combines with skin debris and dirt to form a soft plug to clog the pore. According to Medical News Today, this is an early stage of acne. The pore can then either seal over and become an inflamed pimple or remain open, oxidize with the air and turn into a blackhead. Medical research points to the suggestion that hormonal imbalances, rather than poor diet and hygiene, are the primary causes of acne.
Sterilize a blackhead removal tool in rubbing alcohol. Both are cheap and readily available at drugstores. Leave it in the alcohol for several minutes to kill infection-causing bacteria.
Cleanse blackhead area with a cleanser or toner with the ingredient salicylic acid present. This can be in the form of a wipe, a spray or a lotion. This will help remove all surface dirt and oil from the skin and loosen the tops of the blackheads.
Steam the blackhead area for approximately five to 10 minutes. If the blackheads are on the face or neck, place a towel over your head and then lean over the bowl of hot water. Enclose the towel around the bowl to trap the steam. The steaming will open the pores and loosen the plugs.
Place the loop hole end of the sterilized remover tool over a targeted blackhead. The pore should now be showing in the middle of the loop hole. With gentle pressure applied, the metal rim will now squeeze around the pore and push out the soft plug from underneath. Repeat.
Deep clean the pores while they are open with benzoyl peroxide--available in most over-the-counter products for acne. This will remove remaining dirt and oils. Moisturize.
