How Can Guys Get Rid of Blackheads?
Blackheads form when sebum, the skin's natural oil, combines with dead skin cells and bacteria and clogs the pores. When these clogs are exposed to air, they oxidize, giving them their characteristic dark color. Men have oilier skin than women, which may make them more prone to blackheads. If the thought of a skin-care regimen is confusing to you, you'll be glad to know that blackhead removal and prevention is actually fairly simple. It only takes one trip to the pharmacy and a pot of boiling water.
Wash your face with hot water and a cleanser containing salicylic acid. Look for this cleanser and the blackhead removal strips in the acne treatment aisle of your pharmacy.
Boil a pot of water on the stove. When it is finished boiling, remove it from the heat and set it on a folded towel on your counter.
Drape the other towel over your head to form a tent. Lean over the pot and steam your face for 10 minutes to open your pores.
Stick a blackhead removal strip across your nose. These must be wet in order to work, but your face will already be wet from the steam.
Leave the strip on until it is dry, which will take 15 to 30 minutes. Peel it off to remove your blackheads.
Wash off the residue with the salicylic acid cleanser and splash your face with cold water to close your pores.
