How to Make Homemade Ways to Clear Acne
Commercial acne treatment products can be expensive, as well as irritating to the skin. Before purchasing over-the-counter medications or visiting a dermatologist, you may wish to try a home remedy. Acne is the result of a buildup of the skin's natural oil, or sebum, in combination with dead skin cells, bacteria and oils from cosmetics or moisturizers. Keeping the skin as free of dirt and oil as possible can help to clear pimples and prevent new ones from forming.
Take a daily B vitamin complex tablet. B vitamins include niacin, riboflavin, pyridoxine, folic acid and pantothenic acid. Look for a tablet that also contains zinc and Vitamins A and E. You may also wish to eat foods rich in Vitamin B, such as peanuts, green vegetables and nutritional yeast.
Mash a fresh tomato and apply the pulp to your face. Leave it on for up to one hour. The citric acid in tomatoes is especially good for blackheads.
Use fresh lemon or lime juice as a toner. You can mix the juice with rose water for added benefit.
Exfoliate with an oatmeal scrub. Mix a handful of dry oatmeal with enough water to make a paste and use it to wash your face.
Apply calamine lotion as a spot treatment to dry pimples quickly. Other homemade spot treatments include toothpaste or a baking soda and water paste.
