Blackheads may occur anywhere on your body that has sebaceous glands, such as the face, back and chest. Sebaceous glands excrete an oil called sebum to lubricate the skin. Excess sebum and discarded skin cells can clog a pore near these glands, leading to the appearance of large pores and blackheads. A blocked pore or blackhead may become inflected by bacteria, causing a pimple or sebaceous cyst to form. You may use home remedies to clean dead skin and sebum from the face, clean pores and prevent the appearance of pimples.
Bring 3 cups of water to a boil and remove from heat. Combine 2 tsp. of sodium bicarbonate with the boiling water.
Drape a towel over your head and the pot creating a tent to capture the steam. Wait for approximately 10 minutes. The steam will help to loosen the sebum and dead skin cells trapped in your pores.
Wash your face with a gentle facial scrub. Any scrub with an exfoliant will help to remove the material that is clogging your pores.
Combine corn starch and vinegar in roughly equal parts and mix. The consistency should be a paste that will spread easily over your skin, but will also adhere without dripping off. Add more cornstarch if your mixture is too runny, or more vinegar if your mixture is too firm or dry.
Spread the cornstarch and vinegar mixture on your face or other affected areas. Let sit for 15 to 30 minutes. Wash the mixture off your face with warm water.
Combine three tablespoons of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon to make a sticky paste. Spread thinly over your face or other affected areas before bedtime. Wash your face the following morning with warm water.
