How to Heal Skin Acne
Healing skin acne can be as simple as applying a cleanser or cream for some, while it can be extremely difficult and take years of modifying medications and experimenting to find the right treatment plan for others. Even so, there are a few general guidelines to follow when attempting to treat this condition.
Wash your face with a gentle cleanser aimed at your skin type. So, if you have dry skin, use a dry skin formula. Just make sure that it is oil-free, as this can exacerbate your acne.
Tone your skin with an alcohol-free toner. Try using one that is citrus-based to remove dead skin cells, bacteria and oil without irritating or over drying your skin.
Treat your acne with a cream or lotion that contains an acne=fighting ingredient in it like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Use the lowest concentration that is effective to avoid negative side effects like over drying, skin peeling or skin irritation.
Exfoliate your skin a few times a week with a scrub or mild chemical peel. If using a scrub, do not rub your skin with too much force. Instead, use the pads of your fingers to gently massage the scrub into your skin, then rinse with warm water. If using a chemical peel, use a very low concentration like 10 percent and leave on for only a minute or two before rinsing.
Moisturize your skin each day with an oil-free moisturizer. Even if you have oily skin using a moisturizer will keep your skin hydrated and prevent the skin peeling that's a common side effect of many acne medications.
Commit to your acne healing routine. Each morning, wash your face, tone, treat and moisturize. Do the same each evening. It won't be long before this treatment becomes a part of your daily routine.
