They have two sides shaped like spoons, which contour to your face upon application. Usage

Wash your face with warm water to help loosen your pores. You place a warm cloth on your face for up to ten minutes for maximum effect. Take the double spoon extractor and place the end directly over the pore. Press gently so that the blackhead expels through the hole in the spoon. If the pore is not responsive, use a metal loop extractor and gently scrape the surface of the blackhead.

Precautions

Do not use blackhead removers on a blackhead unless it is at the surface. Blackheads that are still forming will not have as pronounced of a head on them. Attempting to remove such a blackhead with these tools can worsen your pore, and even cause an infection. Make sure that the blackhead remover is clean before usage. Also, if you are using it for more than one blackhead, consider cleaning the removal tool with alcohol in between uses.

Blackhead removers are available at major beauty stores and drug stores. All are an affordable alternative to a session at a spa. The more features that a particular blackhead remover offers, the more it costs. A standard double spoon extractor by Revlon costs around $5, and can be found at Walgreen's and Wal-Mart. A two-in-one blackhead remover with both a double spoon and a metal loop costs $18 at Sephora in 2010.
