What Foods Cause Irritable Bladder?
If you suffer from bladder problems like overactive bladder or urinary tract infections, you may be able to reduce the unpleasant symptoms, such as an uncomfortable urge to urinate or burning upon urination. Diet plays a large role in your healing strategy; what you eat and drink can irritate the bladder and prompt the uncomfortable symptoms that accompany these problems. Caffeine and Alcohol

Avoid caffeinated soda, tea and coffee. Chocolate also contains caffeine. Do your best to avoid alcohol consumption completely.
Avoid acidic fruits and juices. These include oranges, lemons, limes and grapefruit. The Cleveland Clinic also lists problematic fruits as apples, bananas, cantaloupes, grapes, peaches, pineapple, plums, guava and strawberries.
Artificial sweeteners may also irritate the bladder. Common artificial sweeteners include aspartame, saccharin, xylitol and sorbitol. Read food labels carefully, especially for diet foods. They tend to contain these ingredients to make up for reduced fat and natural sugar content.
MayoClinic.com recommends avoiding tomatoes and tomato-based products like sauces and ketchup. Other potentially irritating vegetables include onions, lentils, fava beans and lima beans.
The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) advises against consuming foods that contain trans fats. To ease bladder problems, stay away from commercially baked goods that list partially hydrogenated oils as ingredients. Other sources of trans fat include fried food, fast food, shortening and margarine.
The UMMC also recommends staying away from refined carbohydrates to reduce symptoms. These include all foods made with white flour and all sugary treats and drinks such as soda, cookies, cake and ice cream.
