Social pressure, body changes, balancing schoolwork and life--all are issues which cloud the life of an American teenager. Making matters worse is looking in the mirror and finding a pimple or cluster of pimples. While acne affects teens and adults alike, the vast majority of acne cleansers and treatment products are aimed at this demographic. The growth of the Internet has opened the doors to all sorts of information about acne and health. While no website can take the place of a medical professional, some sites provide solid information about causes, prevention and treatments for acne.

Acne.com

Owned by the makers of the Proactiv Solution acne treatment, Acne.com is a fairly product-neutral website about the skin condition. The site is broken into four areas: types of acne, acne prevention, treatment options and acne myths. While the site does mention Proactiv as a remedy, it gives equal time to other choices including salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, among others.

AcneNet

The consumer website of the American Academy of Dermatologists, AcneNet is an informational website. It does not endorse a product or specific procedure, instead providing answers to questions about acne, how to treat it and information about dermatologists. The site features a search function, matching users with AAD members in their geographic areas.

Acne.org

Operated by Daniel Kern, Acne.org revolves around a three-step treatment regimen created by Kern and an online community of people suffering from acne. Though not a doctor, Kern found a twice-daily program of washing, medicating and moisturizing worked for his own acne. Kern uses the site to sell his own laboratory-developed products. The site also hosts message boards and blogs for people that want to speak out about acne and its effect on their lives.
