There are many strange things that could happen to a human being. The skin is the largest organ of a person's body. In some areas it can become loose and hang and may become irritating. These are called tags. They are small and often grow in the groin area, armpits, neck and eyelids. Skin tag removal at home is one way of getting rid of the unsightly tags.

A tag is likely to form in areas where the skin is inclined to form folds. These areas include the groin, neck or eyelids. Most are non-cancerous and do not cause pain. Still they are uncomfortable and an eyesore.

We do not know what causes them. They sometimes come along in areas where chafing or rubbing occurs. We also know that middle aged and older individuals seem to get them more frequently than other groups of people.

Women who are pregnant may start seeing these things, as well as obese people as there are more places where areas rub together. People who are diabetic actually get them more because of insulin resistance.

Genetic factors may also be at play in their formation. In cases where one person develops a number of them, hormones may be the culprit. There may also be other causes.

An individual does not need treatment for the tags as they do not affect your health in a negative way. Try to avoid playing with them and scratching them. It is always better not to have them around though.

Removing them surgically is an option, either in the traditional way or by using a laser. It is a relatively quick procedure. Another option is to have your doctor freeze them off using liquid nitrogen. Cauterization where electric currents or chemical compounds are used to destroy the cells of the tag, are sometimes used.

Some people may not be able to afford or don't want to pay for professional medical procedures. These people look for the home remedies that are available. Tying is one available option. The infected area is tied tightly at the stalk and cut off with a sterilized and very sharp pair of scissors. Sterilizing will help stop infection and having sharp scissors will make the cut crisp and quick for less pain. Once cut, apply some antibacterial cream to keep infections away and to help the healing process.

There are other less painful home removals that have worked. Apple cider vinegar and tea tree oils have been known to remove this growth. You must apply the oil of your choice at least 6 times a day especially after water contact. If this does not work for you then you may do research online to access new ideas. Some people suffocate the tag using duct tape this may take a few days to create full effect. Use anyone of these methods if you are planning to use skin tag removal at home.
