Skin Care Facial Cleansing
Your face is the first thing people notice about you, so of course you always want your facial skin to be clear and radiant. Basic skin care is crucial to maintaining clear skin, but it does not have to be either complicated or expensive. Good facial cleansing should be as much a part of your day as brushing your teeth or picking up the mail. A simple skin care routine should be done twice every day, and include both cleansing and moisturizing.
Smooth your hair back from your face and hold it in place with a headband or hair clips.
Squirt a little bit of baby oil or make-up remover onto a clean cotton ball and use it to gently wipe off eye make-up, if you are wearing any. Do not get baby oil or make-up remover in your eyes.
Splash some warm water on your face and then gently massage in a quarter-sized dollop of facial cleanser. Use a gentle, creamy cleanser in the morning and an exfoliating scrub at night. Massage the cleanser in for a minute or two to clear out your pores and get the blood flowing in your face.
Rinse your face thoroughly with warm water. Do not use hot water, as it can shock your skin and lead to tiny burst capillaries.
Finish with a healthy splash of cool—not ice cold—water to bring a little blood to your face and tighten your skin. This is especially refreshing in the morning.
Pat your face dry with a clean towel. Never rub or scrub at your skin with a towel, because this will just irritate it. It is also not a good idea to share a towel with anyone else, or you risk trading germs and bacteria.
Apply the appropriate moisturizer for your skin type and age. Use a non-comedogenic--meaning that it won't clog skin pores--moisturizer containing salicylic acid, retinol or benzoyl peroxide for acne-prone skin; a light moisturizer for normal, healthy skin; and deeper night cream with collagen and vitamins if you are fighting fine lines.
