Simple Facial Skin Care Tips
Skin is a delicate living organ that is highly sensitive to stress and change. The best skin care regimen is one that is simple and constant: cleansing, hydrating, toning and protecting the skin.
Cleanse
Cleanse the face twice a day with a mild oil-free, hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic cleanser. Choose a cleanser with a simple list of ingredients and no irritating perfumes.
Tone
Clarify the skin and tighten pores by using a gentle toner after every wash. Choose a toner that is oil-free and irritant-free and that includes a simple list of ingredients. Witch hazel is a good natural alternative for a facial toner.
Moisturize
Every skin type needs daily moisture--even oily skin. After cleansing and toning, apply a light, oil-free, non-comedogenic facial moisturizer. Avoid moisturizers with strong perfumes.
Wear Sunscreen
Sun damage wreaks havoc on skin, and the damage doesn't show up for years to come. Apply a sunscreen made for facial skin every morning.
Cosmetics
Cosmetics can be a major culprit when it comes to skin irritation and breakouts. Look for oil-free, hypoallergenic non-comedogenic cosmetics such as Almay, Physicians Formula, or many of the mineral makeup brands. Use cosmetics sparingly, because skin needs to breathe to be healthy.
Drink Water
If your skin is looking wrinkled or dry, it's a sign that you may be chronically dehydrated. Hydrated skin is plumper and smoother, and water helps flush out toxins and impurities. Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day.
Eat Healthy
You are what you eat, and if your diet is poor it's going to show up on your skin. Avoid fatty foods and foods high in sugar. Include nutrient-rich foods like leafy greens, fruits, fish and lean meat in your daily diet.
