Remedy for Acne on the Back
If you are prone to breakouts on your face, then you have an increased likelihood of developing body acne. Although it can commonly be found on the back, body acne can appear anywhere on the body. Since the pores are larger on the back, acne cysts may be larger than the cysts on your face. If you are unable to cure your back acne at home, you can visit a dermatologist for more aggressive treatments.
Wear lightweight clothing items. Choose lightweight cotton shirts to wear if you have back acne. Tight clothing can irritate the area and worsen the breakouts.
Shower after exercising. When you sweat, you can clog up on the pores on the body with oil and dirt. Time your shower after workouts or after exposure to high temperatures. Take a warm shower to open up the pores, but avoid very hot water. Hot water can dry out the skin.
Exfoliate the surface of your skin. Use an exfoliating sponge in the shower to slough off dead skin cells and prep the surface for treatment.
Use an acne-fighting body cleanser. Back acne can be treated with a body cleanser that contains either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Apply the treatment to the back on a daily basis. Leave the wash on the area for a minute and then rinse. Discontinue use once the back acne clears up. Some brand examples you can try are Murad Acne Body Wash and Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Body Wash.
Dry off the skin completely before dressing. The skin should be dry before you dress since benzoyl peroxide products can stain clothing. Apply a lightweight oil-free moisturizer if your skin feels dried out.
