Quick Simple Acne Treatments at Home
Acne happens when dirt and oil get trapped in your pores. The pores become infected, and they get inflamed and swell, turning into the pimples that can mar so many faces. Acne should be treated quickly, because it can spread and scar. However, many acne remedies go way beyond the average person's price range. That's why many people turn to home treatments for help.
Probably the cheapest and easiest treatment is to drink more water. People should drink on average eight glasses of water a day. Without enough water, wastes and toxins will build up in the body and can cause both health and skin problems. Incorporating enough water into the diet not only will help prevent acne, but it can help clear up outbreaks that are already present.
Exercise is a very effective and cheap way to reduce acne. When you sweat, the body releases toxins through the skin. Wash your face after sweating, and you've just expelled a bunch of dirt and dead skin cells. Exercise also increases blood and oxygen flow to the skin, which will open up your pores to more effectively expel waste. Exercise also reduces stress, another known cause of acne.
Masks are a common acne treatment, so why not see what's in the fridge and make them at home? Some of the most common homemade masks are the most effective at reducing acne. An aspirin mask is easy to make and reduces pimple size, redness and resulting scars. Crush aspirin until it's a powder, then blend it with a couple tablespoons of cold water until it becomes a paste. Spread over the face, and then wash off with warm water in 5 minutes.
Another option is the egg white mask. Smear egg whites over the face and let them sit for 15 minutes. Wash the face with warm water and moisturize after. Not only will this clear acne, it will help tighten skin. The oatmeal mask means spreading cooked oatmeal over the face for 10 to 15 minutes, then washing it off with warm water. This mask should be used twice a day. The garlic mask involves peeling and mashing six to eight cloves of garlic, then spreading the paste on your face for 15 minutes. Wash with warm water and moisturize.
Most people don't eat a well-balanced diet, and an acne outbreak can be a sign of that. Many vitamins contain helpful antioxidants that can help clear-up existing acne, or prevent it from happening. Some of the most beneficial to the skin are vitamin A, B, C, E and zinc.
Use Aloe Vera
Aloe vera has great healing powers for the skin. It reduces acne outbreaks, swelling, and helps with dryness and redness, among other things. One of the best ways to get aloe is to grow the plants, and then apply the juices straight to the face. However, this isn't always possible, and you can easily buy aloe vera from any drug store.
