Organic lifestyles are becoming more and more popular. The basics of acne treatment are the same regardless of what you use to accomplish the goal. All acne systems work to clean skin, unclog pores, kill bacteria causing acne and reduce inflammation. Discovering a few organic treatments that accomplish these tasks can help you round out your organic lifestyle at home.

Organic Soap

Finding an organic mild soap to wash the acne prone skin is the first step in creating an organic acne home cure. Dr. Weil recommends glycerin soap. Oatmeal soaps are also good for acne, as the oatmeal helps to absorb excess oil away from the skin, and Acne Support Team recommends trying an oatmeal mask every now and again. Never wash more than twice per day to avoid irritating the skin, as it can cause more acne, and avoid using scrubbers, washcloths or anything that can irritate skin. Washing will clean the skin and help unclog pores.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a natural ingredient that can be found in organic form. It is used to treat the acne itself, and applied topically, it works as an antibacterial. The Mayo Clinic reports it is proven as effective an ingredient as its chemical counterpart benzoyl peroxide. The Acne Support Team recommends using alcohol by dabbing a cotton swab in the alcohol then applying it to the acne prone skin. Alcohol will help to kill the bacteria, dry the excess oil and cleanse the pores.

Diet

While it has yet to be proven that specific foods cause acne, more and more studies are revealing eating a healthy diet can help cure acne. Dr. Weil recommends increasing fruits and vegetables to increase antioxidants that help the body to build new skin cells, heal damaged ones and fight free radicals that can cause acne. The Acne Support Team reports that increasing vegetables in your diet can treat acne.

Vitamins

According to the Vitamin & Nutrition Center, it has been proven that a symptom of deficiency in the following vitamins causes acne: vitamin A, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, vitamin B6 and the mineral zinc. Zinc is one of the most powerful antioxidants, and the Mayo Clinic recommends taking zinc supplements. Zinc not only provides a strong boost to the immune system, it also contains strong anti-inflammatory properties. Increasing organic foods containing the following vitamins or increasing supplements for vitamins A, B-complex (including B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6), C, E and zinc will help to fight acne from the inside out.
