When gas or air is not eliminated by belching or flatulence, it can accumulate in the stomach and intestines and cause bloating, as explained by the Mayo Clinic. Bloating may be related to consuming certain foods and beverages, because many types of carbohydrates cause gas. Some of these are orange foods.

Cheese

The milk sugar lactose can cause bloating in many people after childhood, and more so as they get older. This results from decreasing levels of the enzyme lactase, which is necessary for digesting lactose. Adults may experience increasing amounts of gas and bloating after eating food containing lactose, including orange cheddar and American cheese. Trouble digesting lactose is particularly prevalent in adults of African, Asian or native American descent, according to the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Fruit

Fruit can cause bloating as well. It contains soluble fiber that absorbs water, and is broken down in the intestines where digestion causes gas. Fruit also contains the sugar sorbitol, which can cause gas, according to the NIH. Orange fruits include peaches, apricots and cantaloupe. Oranges are less likely than the others to cause bloating because citrus fruits do not contain sorbitol.

Starch

Starchy foods can cause gas, as explained by the NIH. These include the orange foods sweet potatoes, yams and rutabaga. Raw carrots contain small amounts of the sugar raffinose, which also can result in gas and bloating.

Other Foods

Many sugar-free cookies and candy contain the gas-causing sorbitol as an added sweetener, according to NexiumResearch.com. Additionally, sucking on hard candy, orange or any other color, can cause you to swallow more air than normal, leading to bloating. Carbonated drinks such as orange soda and orange beer also can cause bloating.
