Oral drugs, like isotretinoin (Accutane), can be prescribed to treat acne, but can cause serious side effects. You can also try natural methods to keep your skin blemish-free.

Daily Washing

One of the simplest and most natural ways to get rid of blemishes is to wash your face with a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water twice a day. According to the Mayo Clinic, you should massage the skin gently without rubbing it or using cleansers with irritating chemicals and fragrances. Cleanse your face after sweating to get rid of excess oil and dirt on the surface of the skin.

Keep Hair Out of Face

If you tend to have breakouts near the hairline, consider keeping your hair pulled back. Your hair should be clean and not touching your face. Clean objects, like cell phones, that come in contact with your face. Hats can also lead to clogged pores and breakouts.

Switch Your Makeup

According to the "Doctors Book of Home Remedies" featured on the Mother Nature website, oil-based makeup can encourage acne. If you are prone to pimples, choose makeup products labeled oil-free or non-comedogenic. If a product is labeled non-comedogenic, it means that the product has been tested and found to not block the pores.

Wear Breathable Clothing

If you have a tendency to develop acne on the body, you may need to change the way you dress. Wear lightweight clothing made of breathable fabrics, like cotton. Change clothing and rinse off excess sweat with lukewarm water after you have worked out or have been exposed to high temperatures.
