Natural Way to Clean & Minimize Clogged Pores
Your skin needs pores to stay hydrated and soft, according to the website DocShop.com. Aging and skin damage from the sun can increase the size of your pores. Your skin type also contributes to the size of your pores. Large pores appear mostly on oily skin types. While you cannot change the size of your pores, you can reduce their appearance by cleaning debris, bacteria and excess oil from them.
Cleaning Clogged Pores
Apply cucumber and tomato juice to your face twice a day. The juices help to wash excess oil from your pores, according to the Acne Resource Center Online. Extract the juice using a juicer and apply using your fingertips or a cotton ball. Rinse the juice off after 10 minutes, unless the acid from the tomato begins to irritate your skin sooner.
Exfoliate your skin once a week. Combine 1/8 cup gram flour with a pinch of turmeric and 6 drops of coconut oil to form a mask. Massage the mask into your skin and rinse off 15 minutes later using warm water. The mask will help remove dead cells from your pores, as well as control bacteria and minimize pores, according to the Acne Resource Center Online.
Increase your water intake. Drinking a minimum of 64 ounce of water each day and eating your fruits and vegetables will help increase the amount of water your body has to flush toxins from your system and pores, advises Dr. William Jaremko, a dermatologist in Olean, New York.
Minimizing Clogged Pores
Only use cosmetics, sunscreens and hair products that contain the words "noncomedogenic" or "water-based" on the label, according to the Mayo Clinic. Failing to do can clog your pores and cause them to enlarge. After switching to water-based products, your pores may begin to minimize.
Apply ice to your enlarged pores. Dr. Jaremko states this may minimize your pores temporarily by decreasing inflammation. As the ice melts it may also help wash dirt and oil from your pores.
Apply a mask containing two raw egg whites and 1/4 cup of orange juice, as recommended by Discover Health on HowStuffWorks.com. Rinse the mask off your face after 15 minutes using warm water. The mask should temporarily minimize the size of your pores. Dr. Jaremko advises that the vitamin C in the orange juice may help tighten your pores by promoting new skin cell growth.
