Sleep with the paste on your face, and wash it off in the morning using warm water. You can also create a paste using a cooked apple, 1/2 cup of oatmeal, 1/8 cup of warm water and 1 tsp. of honey. This paste helps to promote new cell growth, unclog pores, kill bacteria, remove excess oils and moisturize the skin, according to Jenny Hwozdek a practitioner of homeopathic medicine at Nittany Mountain Homeopathy in Lemont, Pennsylvannia.
Some common homeopathic remedies for acne include steam stress relief and tea tree oil, advises Hwozdek. She states that steam helps open pores, allowing for the removal of excess oils and dirt. She advises that reducing stress can help level out hormonal imbalances that can lead to the over production of oil and the clogging of pores. Finally, she recommends applying tea tree oil to directly to the acne blemish to kill the P. acnes that may be present.
Eating a well-balanced diet full of vitamins and minerals will help keep your skin healthy and prevent acne outbreaks, advises Dr. William M. Jaremko of Olean, New York. You should also consume a multivitamin to avoid any vitamin deficiencies that could affect your skin. Finally, he advises drinking between 64 and 80 oz. of water each day.
Exfoliating your skin helps keep it healthy and prevents the build-up of dead skin cells, which could clog pores. Using a mixture of baking soda and water will help exfoliate the skin without chemicals, advises Jaremko. You can also exfoliate by using a mask made from 1/8 cup of gram flower, a pinch of turmeric and 10 drops of coconut oil, according to the Acne Resource Center Online. Regular exfoliation will give you a clear complexion and help control acne breakouts.
