Natural Face Masks for Oily Skin

Natural Face Masks for Oily Skin

You know healthy foods can heal your body from the inside out. When applied to the face, the same natural foods can heal you from the outside in. Using ingredients in your home, create natural face masks that draw out oil and impurities from your skin. If you are acne-prone or experiencing a bout of skin oiliness, apply a natural face mask once or twice per week to improve your skin.

Yogurt

Yogurt's natural properties can remove impurities and oil from your skin, according to Oprah.com. For oily skin, apply plain yogurt to the face and leave it on for five to 10 minutes. The cool temperature can soothe the skin as the yogurt works to remove oil. For a thicker face mask with exfoliating properties, incorporate ground almonds or oatmeal to the mask. If you do add these ingredients, apply the mask to the face in a gentle, circular motion to exfoliate the skin. This will help to remove dead skin cells that can clog the pores.

Honey and Aloe Vera

If you are experiencing an acne breakout, honey's antibacterial properties can help to fight bacteria in the pores, according to Oprah.com. Combine 1 tablespoon of honey with 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel and apply to the skin. The aloe acts as an anti-inflammatory, relieving skin redness. Leave the mixture on for five to 10 minutes to experience honey's antibacterial effects. Because the mixture may be thick, use a soft washcloth wet with warm water to wash off the treatment.

Pumpkin Face Mask

Pumpkin contains zinc, an oil and blemish fighter, according to "Green Beauty Recipes: Easy Homemade Recipes to Make Your Own Organic and Natural Skincare, Hair Care and Body Care Products." It also contains fruit enzymes that exfoliate the skin without requiring manual scrubbing. Mix 2 tablespoons of raw pumpkin that has been finely grated with one egg white, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of tomato juice. You also can use tomato puree in a bowl. Either blend or mix by hand. Wash your face to remove dirt and oil, then apply the mask to your clean skin. Refrain from touching the eyes as you apply the mask. Allow the mask to sit for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse away to reveal healthier skin.
