Overview

Clean & Clear's Advantage Acne Spot Treatment Gel bills itself as visibly affecting acne after as little as four hours. Designed for as-needed use on acne-affected skin, not as a daily wash or treatment, this product contains alcohol, so keep it well away from your eyes. The active acne-fighting ingredient is 2 percent salicylic acid, the same ingredient you'll find in many commercially available acne washes and treatments. According to the National Library of Medicine's MedLine Plus, salicylic acid treats acne by reducing swelling and redness, and unblocking plugged skin pores.

Step 1

Cleanse your face as usual with a gentle, non-abrasive cleanser. Pat dry.

Step 2

Squeeze the smallest dab possible of the Clean & Clear spot treatment gel onto the tip of your finger, then apply to the acne-affected skin.

Step 3

Apply makeup over the spot treatment, as needed. You can also apply the spot treatment over your makeup.
