Overview

When the skin is experiencing problems, it can cause pustules, papules, blackheads and cysts to appear. These facial breakouts are embarrassing, and cause the skin to become painful and inflamed. In order to properly treat facial problems, the skin must be cleansed, medicated and moisturized in a specific way to ensure that acne-causing bacteria do not re-infect the skin. By following this type of routine, the skin will return to its naturally clear state.

Step 1

Cleanse your skin twice per day using a gentle soap formulated for sensitive skin. Wet your face thoroughly, then lather it up using a soap for sensitive skin. Spread the lather around the skin gently, then rinse off the soap lather with water. Rubbing or scrubbing the skin only exacerbates acne and inflames the skin. Using a sensitive skin soap avoids exposing the skin to harsh chemical ingredients that can be found in standard soaps and cleansers.

Step 2

Medicate the skin twice per day using a low-concentration benzoyl peroxide cream. Squeeze a dime-sized amount of a low-concentration benzoyl peroxide cream, no higher than 2.5 percent in strength. Smooth the cream onto the skin, avoiding the eye area. Continue to spread around the benzoyl peroxide cream until it has completely dried onto the skin. Using the low concentration benzoyl peroxide cream clears up facial problems without causing unwanted side effects, such as peeling or burning.

Step 3

Moisturize the skin twice per day using an oil-free moisturizing lotion. Squeeze a dime-sized amount of an oil-free moisturizing lotion onto your fingers, then spread it around the skin after using the benzoyl peroxide cream. Gently massage the lotion into your skin until it has absorbed. It is important to always follow the benzoyl peroxide cream with an oil-free lotion so that the skin does not become overly dry, and does not become clogged with comedogenic oils or waxes. The purpose in moisturizing skin with facial breakouts is to regularly hydrate the skin lightly.
