How to Stop Oil on the Face
When you have excess oil on the face, you are prone to breakouts. Oily skin can be caused by several factors, including heredity, hormone changes and the use of oil-based skin care products and makeup. To stop oil on the face, you need to make some adjustments to your skin care routine. If you are unable to get rid of excess oil on the face at home, speak to a dermatologist about more aggressive treatments, like retinoid creams.
Wash the face twice a day. To control oil, use an oil free cleanser on the face at least twice a day. Pick a cleanser that contains either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid suggests the American Academy of Dermatology since these ingredients reduce oil production and prevent breakouts. Use hot water during cleansing since this gets rid of oil on the skin.
Douse your face with an astringent after cleansing. Astringents stop oil on the face since they contain solvents, such as alcohol and acetone.
Choose makeup carefully. Only wear makeup labeled as non-comedogenic. These oil free products have been tested and found to not clog the pores. Absorb any oil on the skin with a light dusting of powder after putting on your makeup.
Exfoliate the skin twice a week. Exfoliating removes excess oil and sloughs off dead skin cells. Use a gentle exfoliating facial scrub after cleaning the face.
Apply a mud mask weekly. Smooth a thin and even layer of the mud on the face. Leave it in place for approximately 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing off. According to the “Doctors Book of Home Remedies” found on the Mother Nature website, the darker the mud, the more oil it will absorb on the face. However, if you have sensitive skin, you may need to use a lighter color mud.
