Overview

Acne can plague teenagers as well as adults who experience hormonal changes. It can show up all over the body from the face to your back. Blackheads are a form of acne that is caused by dirt, oil and bacteria clogging the opening of the hair follicle. Even after the acne has cleared, it can leave scars behind as a reminder of its presence on your face.

Mederma is a gel designed to smooth and reduce the appearance of scars. Using Mederma can help to clear up blackheads and leave you with a clear complexion.

Step 1

Wash the affected areas with a gentle facial cleanser. Avoid using harsh scrubs or soaps that irritate the skin and worsen the problem.

Step 2

Treat new blackheads and old blackheads separately. Mederma gel works better on newer acne scars. They only need treatment for a short period of time.

Step 3

Apply Mederma gel in a thin layer to problem areas first thing in the morning. Repeat the application in the afternoon and night. Continue use for eight weeks on new blackheads. Make sure to clean the area prior to each application.

Step 4

Treat older scars for a longer period of time. Apply a thin layer of Mederma gel to the affected areas in the morning, afternoon and night for three to six months.
