How to Remove Blackheads From the Forehead
A forehead covered in acne blemishes can make social situations a little uncomfortable. Acne is not age-specific and can affect men and women as well as teenagers. Several factors can contribute to acne; namely, hormones, dirt, bacteria and an overproduction of skin cells or oil. Blackheads, also known as open comedones, form when hair follicles become clogged with dirt, bacteria, oil and excess skin cells, according to Mayo Clinic. Fortunately, solutions are available to help erase blackheads and boost your confidence.
Wash your face with a nonabrasive cleanser. Gently massage the cleanser into your skin and rinse thoroughly. Be gentle to your skin; mistreatment can aggravate breakouts. Stay away from harsh scrubs and soaps that can irritate the skin and make blackheads more apparent.
Stop using products that may contribute to breakouts. Be aware of hair products or makeup that may clog pores and cause blackheads. Look for product labels that say "noncomedogenic" or "water-based," notes Mayo Clinic.
Apply an over-the-counter acne medication to your forehead to combat breakouts. Make sure to use products that contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, which help soak up excess oil and shed dead skin cells.
Do not pick at your face. Squeezing and picking at blackheads can increase bacteria in the area and possibly cause infection or make scars worse.
Make an appointment to see a dermatologist to evaluate your breakouts, if over-the-counter options fail. Talk to your doctor about possible prescription medications, such as topical creams or antibiotics, to help treat blackheads.
