How to Remove Acne Bumps How to Remove Acne Bumps

Acne bumps that look like red inflamed boils are actually called cysts. These cysts are created when oil and dead skin cells are blocked inside a hair follicle. They can become infected and rupture under the skin and cause a red swollen appearance. If you have severe to moderate acne, you may wish to speak to your doctor as there are several prescription medications available. For mild breakouts, there are plenty of over the counter products available. According to the Mayo Clinic you should choose soaps and lotions that contain benzoil peroxide or salicylic acid for best results.

Step 1

Boil the water and pour it into the bowl. Cover your face and the bowl with the towel to create a sauna for your face. Steam for 5 to 10 minutes to open up your pores.

Step 2

Wash your face using cool water and a mild soap. Scrub very gently with the washcloth in a circular fashion to help remove any dead skin. Dry you face completely.

Step 3

Apply acne cream or lotion by following the manufacturer's directions. Avoid the sensitive skin around the eyes and nasal membranes.
