How to Reduce Oil on Face Naturally
Oily skin can be a year-round problem or a seasonal nuisance. Blotting and powdering an oily T-zone is only going to make your skin appear less shiny and oily momentarily. Excessive oil production causes further problems by leading to clogged pores, pimples and blackheads. For this reason, using natural techniques that do not strip the skin of its moisture barrier to reduce and remove oils on a regular basis may work to balance the skin's natural oil production. Natural treatments can be produced in the comfort of your home with ingredients that you may already have in your kitchen or cupboards.
Cut a lemon in half, and squeeze the juice out. Make a 50/50 mix of lemon juice and water, and pat it on your skin with clean fingertips. Let the mixture dry, and rinse off with water.
Mash a fresh tomato, and spread the pulp onto your skin. Leave it on as you would a mask, and then rinse. This freshly made paste helps remove oils from your skin.
Moisten a cotton pad with witch hazel, and wipe it on your skin to disinfect, balance and tighten the surface. Witch hazel is not overly drying to the skin and thus will not cause further oil production as other astringents may.
Combine raw oats and water to form a paste. Apply it to your skin, and let it dry. Moisten your face with water to loosen the mask, and rub carefully to remove.
Cut open an aloe leaf, or open a bottle of pure aloe from a health store. Slather aloe vera on your face, and leave it on to absorb the oils on your skin. No rinsing is necessary.
