How to Reduce Large Pores in the Face

How to Reduce Large Pores in the Face

Overview

Even though everyone has pores, it can be frustrating when yours are especially visible. This doesn't necessarily mean that your pores are huge. However, it does mean you have excess dead skin cells and oil, which are making your pores look much bigger than they are. If your pores are clogged with blackheads, they can look bigger as well. Thankfully, there are ways you can reduce large pores in your face and create a more even complexion.

Step 1

Wash your face twice a day with a mild cleanser to remove surface dirt, oil and dead skin cells. This will remove some of the buildup from your pores and from the surface of your skin, reducing the large look of your pores.

Step 2

Use an oil-free moisturizer on your face after cleansing. It should contain an alpha hydroxy acid to encourage exfoliation of the skin and unclogging of the pores. Your primary concern, however, should be finding a moisturizer that is oil-free so that it won't clog your pores and will smooth roughness or any peeling.

Step 3

Exfoliate your skin regularly. Once a week, use a facial scrub or a chemical peel to slough off the top layer of skin. Over time, this will reveal healthier, smoother-looking skin with noticeably smaller pores. If using a chemical peel, be careful not to leave it on your face longer than five minutes to prevent burning of the skin.

Step 4

Apply only oil-free makeup that won't clog your pores and make them look even bigger. If possible, steer clear of liquid foundation; use powder-based foundation to create an even complexion that hides your large pores.
