Overview

Pimples and blackheads are caused by your pores becoming clogged with bacteria, dirt and oils. If left untreated, blackheads can turn into full-blown acne and can become infected. Fortunately, there are a few treatment methods you can use to flush out your pores, scrub off pore-clogging impurities and increase skin cell turnover to prevent your pores from becoming blocked again. Keep your pores clean and clear to prevent pimples and blackheads.

Step 1

Flush out your pores by applying a non-comedogenic and purgative oil, such as castor oil. Smooth 1 tsp. of castor oil onto your face, and use your fingers to massage the oil into your pores. The castor oil will bind to the impurities in your skin, allowing it to be flushed out more easily. After 2 minutes, place a hot, wet washcloth onto your face, which will force your pores to open and drain out the castor oil and impurities. Once the washcloth cools down, use it to wipe off the oil. Repeat twice a day. Flushing out your pores with oil can replace washing your face with soap.

Step 2

Remove pore-clogging dead skin and sebum by exfoliating your skin with a natural skin scrub. In a small bowl, combine 1 tsp. of baking soda, 1 tsp. of oats, and 1 tbsp. of honey. Spread the scrub onto your face, and gently massage it in using circular finger movements. After 2 minutes, wipe the scrub off of your face and into a trash can, then rinse off your face with warm water. Repeat twice per week to effectively remove dead skin and impurities that could become clogged in your pores and cause blackheads or pimples.

Step 3

Increase skin cell turnover by applying a compress high in vitamin C, such as lemon juice. Vitamin C encourages your skin to slough off dead skin and impurities, while increasing the development of new skin cells. This process keeps your pores clear and blackhead free. Soak 5 cotton pads in lemon juice, and apply them to your face. Use one for your chin, two for your cheeks, and one for each side of your face. Leave the pads on your skin for at least 10 minutes, then remove them to let your skin dry. Repeat up to three times per day.
