How to Open Your Pores
To effectively clean your pores you must open them. Pores are the tiny holes in your skin. These holes lead to oil glands that are located directly under the skin. The oil glands make sebum, which helps keep your skin moisturized; however, if the pore becomes clogged with dirt, too much oil or bacteria, it can result in acne. To clear out clogged pores, or to prevent them from becoming clogged, many people choose to clean out their pores by washing their skin. Heat opens pores up, making it easier to clean them and flush out dirt and bacteria. Cold shrinks and closes the pores, making it more difficult to effectively clean them.
Fill a large bowl with hot, steamy water or fill the sink basin with hot water. This bowl technique will open pores in your face.
Lean over the hot water so the steam hits your face.
Drape a towel over your head to cover your head and the bowl and keep the steam in.
Allow the steam to hit your face for five to 10 minutes to open the pores.
Open the pores over your entire body by standing in a steam room or taking a hot shower.
Wash your face or entire body while your pores are open. To seal them shut, or shrink them, after washing just splash some cold water on your skin.
